THE M5 was closed between Bridgwater and Taunton this morning (Monday, March 27) after a “welfare incident”.
At around 5am the motorway was closed in both directions between J24 (Bridgwater) and J25 (Taunton) “due to a police incident,” National Highways South West said.
An Avon and Police Spokesperson said this was a “concern for welfare incident”.
A spokesperson for the force said: “This was related to a concern for welfare incident. The individual was safely taken into the care of health professionals at about 5.15am.”

This morning, through its Twitter account, National Highways South West said: “The M5 is closed in both directions between J24 (Bridgwater) and J25 (Taunton) due to a police incident.”
