A SPECIAL concert will celebrate the 160th anniversary of a Taunton church.
The Skylark Quintet ‘Children’s Hour’ concert will coincide with St John’s Church’s anniversary and will take place on the Friday after Easter, April 14, at the usual time of 12.45pm.
The quintet’s exhibition will feature a narrated version of Hansel and Gretel.
The concert will also include other tuneful classics from Bizetʼs Jeaux dʼenfants, Warlockʼs Capriol Suite, and other musical gems.
The Skylarks come from the far corners of the world and have enjoyed careers spanning five continents.
Now based in the South West, they met as freelance professional musicians and saw the potential for making wonderful chamber music together.
A spokesperson for the church said: "Our founder, benefactor, and first vicar, The Rev’d Frederick Jeremiah Smith, was committed to improving the lives of Taunton children.
“He contributed heavily to many of the town’s schools, believing it important to raise the standard of education in the town.”
Collection on the day will be in aid of Stroke Association and St. John’s Church.
