POLICE say the road has now been re-opened.
TRAVEL Somerset says the collision took place between the A361 at Higher Durston and the Shearston turnoff for North Petherton.
It adds that "traffic is coping well".
POLICE have just reported a road closure in both directions on the A38 this morning (Friday, April 14).
Officers are on the scene following a single vehicle road traffic collision near North Petherton.
Drivers are being advised to seek an alternative route.
Work to recover the vehicle and collision investigation work continues.
The road is likely to remain closed for a period this morning.
An Avon and Somerset Police tweet posted at around 6.45am says: "The A38 is shut in both directions near North Petherton due to a single-vehicle RTC.
"Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route.
"Recovery and collision investigation work continues.
"We hope to reopen the road later this morning."
