EMERGENCY services attended a 'deliberate' caravan fire just outside of Taunton at the weekend.

The caravan was severely damaged in the fire that was in Norton Fitzwarren near Taunton on Sunday, April 16.

Once fire fighteres had put out the fire, police were called to the scene due to suspected arson.

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police has said: “We received a call from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service at about 8.20pm on Sunday, April 16 to make us aware of an incident they had been dealing with in Brunel Way, Norton Fitzwarren.

“A caravan had been damaged in a fire and they believed the cause was deliberate. There were no injuries reported.

“Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 101 and quote reference number 5223087945.”

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue added: “Fire Control received several calls to reports of a fire in the Norton Fitzwarren area of Taunton.

“Two fire engines from Taunton were mobilised and on arrival confirmed this was a caravan fire, well alight.

“The fire was extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus wearers and 1 hose reel jet.”
