A MAN carrying a baby in his arms was hit by a van near to a village school at going home time.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Oake Close, Oake, in which the van failed to stop earlier this week.

The man was not seriously injured, but suffered bruising to his elbow in the incident on Monday (April 24) at around 3pm.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We received a report a man suffered bruising to his elbow after being struck by the wing mirror of a van which had mounted the pavement on Oake Close in Oake at around 3pm on Monday 24 April.

“The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to phone 101 and tell the call handler they are phoning in relation to log 626 of 24 April.”
