CREECH St Michael hosted a free community event on Saturday (May 6) to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Hundreds of locals from Creech and the neighbouring villages celebrated at the park and enjoyed free activities such as face painting, family games, coconut shy, welly toss, magician, circus skills and archery.

There was also a Bake-Off style cake competition and a children’s crown parade.

Creech and Ruishton schools decorated bunting and individual flags, of which there were nearly 500.

People took along their picnic lunches to eat while watching the proceedings on the big screen and free cream teas were served in the afternoon.

The event was jointly organised and funded by Creech and Ruishton Parish Councils, local churches, Creech Village Hall and Creech Party in the Park.

A spokesperson for the organising committee said: “We were delighted that so many people came to enjoy the historic occasion together, with locals of all ages coming out to celebrate.

"We were lucky the rain stayed away and there was a lovely community atmosphere ”
