A MOTORCYCLIST has died in a single-vehicle collision on the A371 near Axbridge.
The incident happened at around 1.40pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 25).
There were reports of slow traffic before the road was closed between Cheddar and the A38 junction at Cross.
The motorcyclist sadly died at the scene. A specially trained officer is providing the family with support.
A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said yesterday evening: "A motorcyclist has died in a single-vehicle collision near Axbridge today (May 25).
"Our thoughts are with his family. The collision happened on the A371 at about 1.40pm.
"The road's now open. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam can call 101 ref 5223122142."
Two double-crew land ambulances, air ambulance and two operations officers were sent as part of an emergency response.
The road reopened at around 7.35pm.
