AN elderly motorist has been banned from the road for six months for repeat speeding offences.
William Montier Waddington, 74, of North Street, Milverton, pleaded guilty at North Somerset Magistrates' Court to doing 79mph on a 70mph stretch of the A303 near Wincanton on June 10 last year.
The magistrates slapped a fine of £192 on Waddington and ordered him to pay a £34 victim surcharge along with a £95 contribution towards prosecution costs.
He received three penalty points on his driving licence and, under the totting up system, was disqualified from getting behind the wheel for six months "due to repeat offending".
Waddington was told he must pay the total court bill of £321 by June 28.
