A TAUNTON woman has marked her 100th birthday surrounded by family, friends and fellow residents at the care home where she lives.
Margot Komarnicka, known fondly as Mrs K, enjoyed a party at home in Oake Meadows and was delighted to receive a card from the King.
Born in Worcester and married three times, Mrs K has two children, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
One of her loves was acting and amateur dramatics and another was travel.
She headed out on a world cruise from Southampton at the age of 93 and returned at 94.
In her 70s, 80s and 90s, Mrs K was a tour guide, including at Wells Cathedral, where she worked between the ages of 84 and 91.
Michelle Guest, activities co-ordinator at Oake Meadows, said: “Mrs K is a great character and we were delighted to help her celebrate her 100th birthday.
“She has obviously lived a very full and entertaining life, sailing the world and being a tour guide in her 90s.
"It was great to see family and friends enjoying the party with Mrs K and we’re looking forward to her 101st birthday.”
