THE history of local women is being celebrated at the Museum of Somerset this month.
The next tour, which is taking place on June 21, will take you back in time to learn more about some of Somerset's most memorable women.
One of the women you can learn about is Florence St George Gray, whose husband was the curator of the museum from 1901 to 1949.
Likewise, there will also be chance to discover the female geologists who played a major part in uncovering some of the museum's most informative fossils.
The life and works of Sarah Biffin, a 19th-century portrait artist, will also be discussed, as well as folk singer sisters Louie Hooper and Lucy White.
The tour will conclude in the temporary exhibition ‘Sentimental Journeys’, which celebrates postcard artist and suffragist, Ivy Millicent James.
Please note that you can book either daytime or evening tours.
Our ✨ brand-new women's history tours continue this month. The museum team has crafted this bespoke tour, highlighting stories of #Somersetwomen featured in our galleries or connected to the museum.
