CREWS from three fire stations were called to a home fire in a village near Taunton.

Occupants of the building in West Hatch had managed to get out of the building before firefighters arrived on the scene.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent engines from Bridgwater, Glastonbury and Wellington to the incident at 11.19am yesterday (Thursday, June 15).

The fire had been discovered in the loft space of the home.

Firefighters worked to isolate the electrics and used breathing apparatus and jets to extinguish the fire, which was confined to the loft space and the pump of a shower unit.

The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.
