A BUTCHERS shop in a village near Taunton looks set to be converted into a one-bedroom flat.
Chris Trott Family Butchers, in West Street, Bishops Lydeard, closed on Christmas Eve last year after it was deemed no longer economically viable.
Somerset Council has under delegated powers granted prior approval for a change of use of the building in the village conservation area.
The scheme will include a self-contained en suite one-bedroom flat, with open plan kitchen, dining and living area, car parking space and outdoor amenity area.
Internal works will be limited to new partitions only.
Mr Trott blames the closure of the business on "continued economic pressures from supermarkets and online orders".
The property has been on the market for two years.
