PEACOCKS have now delayed the opening date of the new store in Minehead.

It will now welcome its first customers to the store in Park Street on Thursday, July 13 - not Friday, July 7 as prevously scheduled.

CLOTHES chain Peacocks is opening a new store in Minehead next month.

And the men's, women's and children's fashion retailer that offers 'cheap clothes', is offering customers some great deals in the first fortnight of trading.

The shop is opening at 4 Park Street in the seaside resort on Friday, July 7, in premises previously home to M&Co.

It will create 10 new posts, with additional seasonal jobs.

A spokesperson for Peacocks said the store will be "the perfect destination to shop for the whole family".

And customers spending £30 or more on full price items will get a 20 per cent discount as an opening offer running from Friday, July 7, until Friday, July 21. Customers will need to quote the code 20ADOPEN in store at the till.

The spokesperson added: "We are extremely excited to be joining the other traders in Minehead with our new Peacocks store and supporting the local community and visitors alike with great value family fashion.

"We will be employing a core team of 10 colleagues to work with us along with additional employment seasonally.

"The new store will be opening from 9am on Friday, July 7, with store opening offers for customers to enjoy exclusively at the Minehead store.”

Minehead BID manager Karen Morledge said: "This really is great news for Minehead and Peacocks will be a very welcome addition to the retail offering in the town, for both residents and visitors; plus of course the additional job opportunities it will bring.

"The BID has worked hard over the last five years to create a vibrant, well-promoted, clean and attractive town centre.

"The new store location is in a prime position and it's excellent to see the premises only vacant for a short period of time.

"Minehead prides itself on having one of the lowest shop vacancy rates in the South West and I am delighted that this well-known brand has seen the benefits of opening a new store in the town."
