SOMERSET County Cricket Club has confirmed that there will be more international cricket coming to Taunton in 2024.

The Cooper Associates County Ground will be hosting England Women for their second ODI against Pakistan on May 26, 2024.

Regarding England Women’s return to Somerset CCC, CEO Gordon Hollins said: “It’s always an honour to host international cricket at the Cooper Associates County Ground, and we are delighted to be welcoming England Women back to Taunton next summer.

"There is a tremendous appetite for women’s cricket in the South West, which has been evidenced this year with the Ashes ODI selling out in record time.

"Our goal is to inspire future generations of female cricketers and international matches help us to do that in association with the Somerset Cricket Foundation, who do a wonderful job doing so much to increase participation."

He added that role models in the region play a huge part in the promotion of womens cricket.

"The South West region has always had strong links to England Women, with the likes of Anya Shrubsole, Fran Wilson and of course Heather Knight, all wearing the Three Lions with distinction.

"In recent weeks it has been great to see the next crop of local talent making their international breakthrough with Lauren Filer and Dani Gibson making their England debuts and doing the South West proud.”
