THE owners of a Taunton pub are hoping police can track down a man who damaged two large windows in an early hours attack.

The culprit is caught casually walking past Molly Malones, in Tancred Street, before glancing round and returning to smash at the glass panes with what appears to be a hammer.

He then fled the scene following the incident at 4.50am this morning (Tuesday, July 11) was captured on the pub's CCTV, which will be handed to police.

Pub owner Steph Smith, who was asleep inside along with her partner and two children, has taken to social media to appeal for witnesses.

She said: "To the person who thinks this is acceptable not only to do this to our business but to our family home - we have footage of you on cctv.

"It has been reported and we won’t give up until you are caught.

"Any information or people with extra footage this morning of a male at 4.50 this morning around our area please get in touch.

"We are totally devastated.

"Please share and any information forwarded to us."

Steph told the County Gazette that the footage shows the attack was was "definitely intended and planned".

She has reported the incident to police and says she was told they would be in touch in two to three days.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Enquiries are being carried out after windows were damaged at a pub in Tancred Street, Taunton, this morning (Tuesday 11 July).

"We received a call at about 5.05am to say a man was striking the glass windows with a weapon and was subsequently leaving the scene on foot.

"Officers attended the scene within 10 minutes but the suspect has left the area.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or was driving in the area and may have dashcam footage showing the criminal damage, is please asked to contact us via our website or call 101 and quote reference number 5223165080."
