A TAUNTON motorist caught speeding at 92mph on a 60mph stretch of road had avoided a ban - but the offence has cost him £1,000 in court.
Adam Philip Jones, 28, of South Street, was clocked driving at one and a half times the speed limit on the A303 Ilminster Bypass near Moor Lane overbridge on November 22 last year.
He was sentenced after pleading guilty at Taunton Magistrates' Court on yesterday (Wednesday, July 12).
Magistrates handed Jones a £650 fine and ordered him to pay a £260 victim surcharge, along with a £90 contribution towards prosecution costs.
He received six points on his driving licence, but the court decided not to disqualify him from driving due to the effect it would have on family members.
He was ordered to pay the total court bill of £1,000 by August 11.
