A MOTORIST from Taunton has been sentenced by a court for driving at almost 100mph on the M5.
Roy Lonergan, 32, of Lambrook Close, committed the offence on the motorway between Junctions 26 and 27 Wellington to Tiverton on October 3 last year.
Lonergan, who had previously pleaded guilty to the offence, was handed five points on his driving licence when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (July 18).
He was also fined £430 and ordered to pay a £173 victim surcharge and an £85 contribution towards prosecution costs
Magistrates said they took into account his guilty plea when deciding on the sentence.
They told Lonergan he must settle his £687 court bill by August 15.
