THREE candidates are standing in a Somerset Council by election next month.
Voters in Castle Cary will go the the polls on Thursday, August 10, to choose a new councillor following the death in May of Cllr Mike Lewis.
The would-be county councillors standing are David Hall (Conservative and Unionist Party); Ewan William George Jones (Green Party); and Kevin Messenger (Liberal Democrat).
People planning to vote in person at a polling station must provide photo ID – this can include a passport, driving licence or older person’s bus pass.
You can still use your photo ID if it is out of date, if it looks like you. The name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote.
Those without the necessary ID can apply for the free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC) by 5pm on Wednesday, August 2. Applications can be made online, by post or in person. Help and advice is available from the Somerset Council elections team on 01935 462383.
