TAUNTON Town enjoyed a strong season in their first effort at National League South football in their last campaign.

However, it would be fair to say the strikers were perhaps under par in the goal scoring department.

In the pre-season friendlies so far, Taunton look much stronger going forward and the strikers looked primed and ready for the year ahead.

New signing Malachi Linton has already picked up a goal in pre-season, and fellow strikers Nat Jarvis and Nick McCootie have also been amongst the goals.

The combinations available to Rob Dray when you add in last season's top scorer Dave Sims-Burgess are exciting.

All four of the players bring something different, and operating in the expected two-striker setup, Taunton will surely cause more problems for defences this season ahead.

After he signed on for the Peacocks, Linton said: I’m really excited to be here."

He added: "The gaffer was a big pulling factor in getting me here and I just can’t wait to start playing for him and with my new teammates. I can’t wait to get started.”

Linton has already got started, picking up a goal against Plymouth Parkway last week.

Jarvis' goal against Tiverton Town on Tuesday night highlighted how he has developed in his time at Taunton Town.

He made very good movements going forward to get behind the line of defence and looked a man possessed at times.

It all culminates in an exciting quandary for Dray - who does he start up front in the season opener at home against Braintree Town on August 5.

It seems his favoured choice would be Jarvis and Linton, with McCootie and Sims-Burgess providing fire power off the bench.
