A TANKER carrying milk overturned on the Southfields roundabout in Horton yesterday (Saturday, July 29).
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service used specialist equipment to stem the leak and stop the milk from entering the drains and contaminating the ground and drainage system.
An environmental protection unit was also set to the scene to help with the clean-up effort as well as another lorry to decant the remaining milk into.
The road was shut as crews dealt with the incident and re-opened a short while later.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Roads Policing Unit said: “Last night, the A358 at Southfields roundabout had to be closed while recovery agents worked to get this milk tanker back on all four wheels after it overturned.
“Thankfully, no one injured. Sorry for any delays to drivers whilst the road was closed.”
