PART of the former police station in Taunton looks set to be turned into new homes.

Proposals to convert 9-11 Burton Place into six homes are being recommended for approval at Somerset Council's planning meeting next Tuesday (August15).

The former Somerset West and Taunton Council was minded to grant permission for the development of the listed buildings, but put its decision on hold due to the phosphates pollution issue on the Somerset Levels.

The developer Photinia now looks likely to be given the go ahead after agreeing to pay for ‘nutrient neutral’ credits to ensure the phosphates do not have a negative impact on the Levels.

The terraced properties on Burton Place would be converted into two one-bedroom, one two-bedroom and three three-bedroom accommodation.

No parking will be provided on site due to the proximity to the town centre.
