A WINDOW of yet another business off Taunton town centre has been smashed.

The latest premises to be vandalised is a family-run Asian food outlet.

As well as breaking the window, the culprits stole money from Ga Yau Hong Kong Street Food, in Magdalene Street, leading from East Street.

It follows similar attacks this week on Brazz bar and café, in Castle Bow, where a man smashed the glass door with a metal chair as terrified staff and customers looked on from inside, and overnight at The Little Wine Shop and Jane Armour Trading, neighbouring businesses in Riverside Place, off St James Street.

Ga Yau Hong Kong Street Food, which only opened towards the end of last year, is managed by Alethina Phang, who also runs the bakery section, while her sister Aster is in charge of the cooking and the latter's partner Hon prepares the drinks.

A business owner who runs a shop in Taunton said: "This is going to ruin Taunton unless something's done to stop it.

"Who's going to want to open a business in the town when this is happening to so many businesses.

"They are just going to destroy our lovely town.

"The police and the council need to come up with a plan of sorts to stop it."

They requested not to be named, adding: "If the people doing this know I've spoken out, then I could be next."
