THE Proclaimers have pulled out of a weekend music extravaganza in Taunton.

The Scottish group have announced they won't be making the 500 miles or so trip to the county town to perform at Live in Somerset.

Charlie Reid has received medical advice not to take part as he is suffering voice loss due to a perforated ear drum.

He and twin brother Craig were one of the headline acts in Live in Somerset in Vivary Park over the bank holiday weekend.

They have also cancelled a number of other appearances in their Dentures Out tour that began in June last year and has included 96 shows.

Announcing The Proclaimers would no longer be performing on the Saturday (August 26), Charlie said: "I'm very sorry that I can't perform these shows and thank everyone for the fantastic support over this tour."

At the height of their fame, The Proclaimers released mega hits such as Sunshine on Leith, Letter from America and I’m Gonna Be (500 miles).

A spokesperson for Live in Somerset said: "All at Live in Somerset are wishing Charlie a speedy recovery.

"We are currently looking at all options available to us and will come back to ticket holders in the next couple of days with further information for this show.

"Please bear with us at this time.

"We apologise for any disappointments this may cause.

"This does not affect any other night of Live in Somerset."

Live in Somerset features Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on Thursday, August 24; Alfie Boe on Sunday, August 27; and McFly on Monday, August 28.
