THE second and final phase of a bespoke housing scheme by independent housebuilder Acorn Property Group in Bruton is being launched in September.
Longcroft at Cubis Bruton will see 28 three- and four-bedroom houses, with an emphasis on low-maintenance living and sustainable, modern design.
The homes are intended to feel ultra-contemporary, with particular attention paid to the landscaping across the development, providing large private gardens and communal green spaces.
Julian Hampson, group design director at Acorn, said: “From the start of the project, there has been a close collaboration between artist, architect and landscape to create contemporary homes in such a picturesque rural setting, while keeping a green and familiar landscape.
"We fully understand the importance of respecting the history of Bruton, whilst mirroring the town’s forward-looking approach.
“Bold, simple and textural, we have worked hard to create unique identities for each house and each part of the site and enliven the street scenes.
"We’ve also been conscious about the biodiversity of the whole development and decided to use bee-friendly materials and to provide new bat boxes to encourage and support local wildlife.”
Acorn has also placed emphasis on creating a sustainable development, with residents benefitting from eco features.
These include a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery system that provides fresh filtered air while retaining most of the energy already used to heat it, and insulation, which is up to 58 per cent better at ensuring maximum heat retention than build regulations.
There is also underfloor heating to the ground floor, PV panels and triple glazed windows, to help reduce heating costs and improve efficiency.
The development has proved popular with buyers, according to Bruton-based estate agents Lodestone Property.
