A BUNGALOW in a village near Taunton has been badly damaged in a fire.

A total of six fire engines and two aerial platforms were sent to the blaze in North Curry at around 8pm on Tuesday (September 29).

A section of the roof was destroyed by the flames and there was also considerable internal damage to the property on Town Close.

Firefighters stayed on the scene into the early hours of Wednesday and visited later in the day to check there were no hot spots.

A spokesperson for Taunton Fire Station said: "Green Watch and On Call firefighters attended a fire in a bungalow. The fire was well developed and the roof fully involved.

"The initial crews were supported by crews from surrounding stations.
