DEVON & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has responded to reports of a road traffic collision in Milborne Port.

At around 6.19pm yesterday (Thursday, September 7), crews mobilised fire appliances from Yeovil and Sherborne.

A heavy rescue unit was also mobilised from Taunton, but it wasn't needed.

On arrival, it was confirmed that three vehicles were involved.

Whilst there, fire crews assisted both the police and ambulance service.

A spokesperson from the fire service said: "One casualty was taken to hospital via Helimed and three other casualties were taken to hospital by land ambulance."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 18.13hrs on Thursday, September 7 to an incident near Sherborne.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer and an air ambulance and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital and two patients by land ambulance to Yeovil District Hospital.”

The police have been contacted for a comment.
