THE owner of a restaurant off Taunton town centre has announced it will close due to "various challenges".

Sofia Nobriga-Rodrigues says Nobregas Taunton, at the end of Bath Place, will close after serving its last customers on Saturday, September 30.

She posted the decision on social media "with a very heavy heart" as the eaterie celebrates its fourth anniversary.

"Our lease is up and unfortunately, with the various challenges we’re facing including many with the building itself, we will not be renewing," said Sofia.

"The past four years have been a dream come true, sharing our family recipes and in return receiving so much love for our food/culture with the beautiful town of Taunton."

She added: "It has been magical watching this successful business grow into what she is today."

Nobregas's sibling establishments Skewer House Taunton, in Bridge Street, and Corner Club Taunton, in Bath Place, will continue as normal.

"You can find us there, weeping," said Sofia. "Our last day of service is Saturday, September 30.

"So, if you want your final taste of Nobregas, make sure you book in."

Nobregas is a family run Portuguese and Spanish tapas and paella restaurant located in a historic listed building that for many years housed the Dragon Bookshop.
