A DRIVING instructor has appeared in court this morning accused of sending an "indecent, grossly offensive" or threatening message relating to a driving examiner at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency in Taunton.

Adrian Whiting, 52, of Claremont Court, Windsor Close, Taunton, pleaded not guilty to the charge at Taunton Magistrates' Court this morning (Thursday, September 14).

The court was told that Whiting, who was represented in court by Nigel Yeo, allegedly used his phone to commit the offence at the DVSA at Crown Close, on the Crown Industrial Estate, in Priorswood, on February 24 this year.

The precise details of the message he denies sending to a named man but relating to a woman were not revealed in the court.

Magistrates ordered Whiting to reappear at the same court for a day-long trial on Friday, November 24, when two witnesses will be called to give evidence against him.

He was released on conditional bail.
