TWO pupils from Heathfield Community School have received "excellent" results in their music exams.
Year 9 student Chloe Woodhams and Lucy Pitchfork in Year 11 both passed their Grade 5 cornet exams with a Merit.
The two girls, who are studying with the Trinity College of Music, scored above 75 marks out of a possible 100.
Chloe and Lucy had to prepare three pieces of music, complete technical work, take part in aural tests and play an unseen piece of music by sightreading it.
Taught by Glyn Bowen, visiting instrumental teacher from Somerset Music, Chloe and Lucy both play with Heathfield's orchestra.
Sian Bowen, from Heathfield Music Department, said: “We are delighted to see our two cornet players gaining a Merit grading in Trinity College of Music, Grade 5, on cornet.
"Well done and congratulations to the girls from us all at Heathfield, for their hard work, commitment, and this excellent result.”
