THE West Somerset Morris has donated £350 to fund more research into mitochondrial disease and genetic heart defects.

The WSM has donated thousands of pounds over the years to local charities and they have recently helped Elliot’s Touch.

Paul and Donna Stevens said: “We would like to say a big thank you for your wonderful donation of £350 and for thinking of Elliot's Touch.

“This donation will help us in our quest to fund more research into mitochondrial disease and genetic heart defects.

“We are a small charity with a big heart and for each and every donation we receive we are truly grateful.”

These are some of the messages shared by the charities they helped at dance-outs in 2022.

St Margaret’s Hospice Care said: “Thank you so much for your kind donation of £160 raised at Dunster by Candlelight, your gift allows us to provide essential clinical care and emotional support to patients, their families, and their carers in Somerset."

The Somerset Community Foundation said: “Sincere thanks for your generous donation of £350 to our surviving winter appeal to support local vulnerable older people who are experiencing fuel poverty.”

A message from Porlock Church Spire read: “Heartfelt thanks for generously making a £350 donation to our Spire Project.

“St Dubricius’s historic oak shingle-clad spire is one of only two truncated spires in the West Country.

“The shingles were last renewed in 1933.”
