Permission granted to demolish wall at Wellington Library

Improvement works are being carried out at the Fore Street premises and Someret Council planners have agreed to proposals to knock down part of the boundary wall to enable the demolition and rebuilding of library extension.

Wellington Library urgently needs upgrading to ensure its first and second floors - currently not in use - are both accessible and up to new fire safety standards.

The existing building has significant structural issues within the rear workshop and workroom.

The scheme is among recent planning decisions made by the council.
