A FAMILY doctor from Taunton died after being hit by two vehicles on the M5.
Dr Stephen Brain, aged 58, died on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between Junctions 26 (Wellington) and 27 (Tiverton) three days after last Christmas (December 28, 2022).
An inquest in the Old Municipal Building, in the county town, was told Dr Brain intended to take his own life.
Samantha Marsh, senior coroner for Somerset, said: "He sustained injuries...and was instantly hit by two vehicles who could not have avoided the collision."
Dr Brain died from multiple traumatic brain injuries as a result of the fall and collisions on December 28, 2022.
Mrs Marsh ruled a conclusion of suicide.
