A LARGE crowd witnessed a virtual clear out of the catalogue of properties at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s latest property auction at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster, last week.

In the run up to the day a number of pre-auction sales had taken place including a development opportunity at Martock comprising a bungalow for modernisation, outbuildings and 2.5 acres which sold well over the guide.

A former railway yard at West Lyng, near Taunton, and a residential property for modernisation at Minehead all went for comfortably in excess of their guide prices.

On the day, the firm offered an excellent range of development, agricultural, commercial and residential opportunities.

Pick of the properties was a delightful cottage for renovation near Corscombe guided at £300,000 which attracted strong interest from across the region and finally sold to a Dorset buyer at £464,000.

A 0.3 acre plot of land at Cromwell Road, Yeovil, sold well above its £20,000 guide with the hammer finally falling to a neighbour at £42,000.

Various blocks of pasture and arable land sold across Somerset including land at Buckland St Mary, near Chard, arable land at Cary Fitzpaine and pasture land at Middlezoy, Bridgwater.

A cottage for renovation at East Street, West Coker, saw the hammer price hit £125,000 and a commercial property for renovation in Castle Cary selling at £80,000 to an online bidder.

The largest lot saw Lower Edgarley Farm in Glastonbury sell at £900,000 and the final lot of the day included a delightful vineyard at Stoke St Gregory, Taunton, which sold at £115,000.
