FOUR people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in two police raids in Taunton and a neighbouring village.

Officers carried out drugs warrants in Severn Drive, Taunton, and at an address in Henlade yesterday afternoon (Monday, October 9).

They seized suspected Class A and Class B drugs and cash.

Two men and two women, aged between 24 and 62, were detained and were still in custody this morning (Tuesday, October 10).

A witness said several officers in four or five police vehicles swooped on a property in the Severn Drive cul de sac at about 3pm.

"It was a bit of a shock for some people as it's a quiet location," said the witness.

"I believe there was a chase involving a police dog after a man ran off before being arrested."

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Four people were arrested during two drugs warrants yesterday (Monday 9 October).

"Officers carried out warrants at addresses in Henlade and Taunton and seized a quantity of suspected class A and class B drugs, plus cash.

"Two men and two women, aged between 24 and 62, are in custody having been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug."
