FIRE crews tackled a vehicle fire in Taunton after receiving reports of a “sound of a bang”.
On their arrival, crews found the vehicle on Larkspur Close was “well alight”.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said “this fire was deemed as deliberate ignition”.
Police were also on the scene.
The fire service spokesperson said: “Fire control received a couple of calls to the sound of a bang and found a vehicle on fire in Larkspur Close, Taunton.
“Control mobilised one fire appliance from Taunton.
“On arrival, crews confirmed one vehicle was well alight and crews were at work extinguishing the fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
“Final update - crews confirmed the fire to be extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, and one thermal imaging camera.
“The vehicle was 50 per cent damaged by fire and 100 per cent damaged by smoke and heat.
“This fire was deemed as deliberate ignition and this incident was left with police who were also on scene.”
The County Gazette has contacted Avon and Somerset Police for comments.
