THE NEW branch of Aldi coming to Taunton is set to open later this week.
The debatably supermarket-sparse side of town will see the Chip Lane store officially open for business on 8am on Thursday October 26 2023.
Paralympics GB bronze medallist Hannah Taunton will be on scene to cut the opening ribbon, and celebrate the official partnership between Aldi and Paralympics GB.
Hannah will also be giving away free bags of fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.Paralympics GB bronze medallist Hannah Taunton will give away fruit and veg from Aldi's Super 6 range. (Image: Aldi)
From October 26 onwards, the store's official opening hours will be:
- Monday - Saturday: 08:00 - 22:00
- Sunday: 10:00 - 16:00
The new branch of Aldi will reportedly offer fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning ‘Specially Selected’ range, exclusive beers, wines and spirits, as well as a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store.
Aldi's infamous middle-aisle of weekly offers on miscellaneous home products (dubbed Specialbuys) will be available every Thursday and Sunday, selling a range of items from electronics to garden tools. The new Taunton store will feature Aldi's infamous Specialbuys section in the middle aisle. 35 local employees will make up the supermarket's team, managed by Store Manager Jonny Deane.
"We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Taunton," Jonny said.
"It’s set to be a special day, and having Paralympics hero Hannah Taunton join us will make it a morning to remember."
Hannah Taunton added: "I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store - it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Paralympics GB."A team of 35 local employees will help to run the new Taunton branch of Aldi. (Image: ALDI)
Local food banks and charities in Taunton are being encouraged to sign up to Neighbourly - a platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.
Those that register will be able to collect any surplus food and perishable products from the new Aldi store on any day of the week.
