SEVERAL police officers descended on Taunton Station early yesterday evening (Tuesday, October 24) following a tip off that a wanted man was on board a train approaching the county town.
The train bound for Reading and London Paddington was held after arriving from Exeter shortly before 6pm.
An announcement told passengers waiting on the platform to temporarily not board the train while police searched the carriages.
Officers drew a blank and passengers were soon afterwards allowed to board the train, which shortly continued on its way.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Officers were at Taunton Train Station yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 24 October) acting upon intelligence about a man wanted for breaching the terms of his bail.
“The train was temporarily held while officers searched the area before establishing he was not there.”
