THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Tone catchment area.
People living in areas such as Taunton, Wellington, Wiveliscombe, Milverton, West Bagborough, Creech St Michael and Kingston St Mary are being warned "flooding is possible".
The area where the alert is in place is the River Tone from Clatworthy Reservoir to Currymoor, the Hillfarrance Brook, the Halsewaer Sream and other tributaries in the River Tone catchment.
The agency has issued the following advice:
- Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
- Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
- Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
The Environment Agency flood warning officers set the river or tidal levels that have triggered the alert.
