A FRESH and addition to the Taunton High Street has been well received by locals.

The Yong Feng Hang Asian Supermarket is set to officially open on November 20.

Work to transform the former charity shop site at 21-22 High Street is well underway.

The exterior now proudly sports Yong Feng Hang Asian Supermarket branding, indicating the store's imminent launch.

Somerset County Gazette: Yong Feng Hang Asian Supermarket will open in Taunton later this month.

Reacting to the news, one local resident said: "Great to see another empty high street property opening back up."

While a County Gazette reader is also looking forward to the new store, commenting: "I think this will do a good trade - I welcome it."

People in Taunton seem to be keen on having an Asian supermarket in town, seeing it as an opportunity to buy ingredients to cook the cuisine at home.

A resident explained: "I thinks it’s great that we have a good choice, how many people love Asian food and get takeaway?

"Now there is an option to be able to buy the produce and cook."

The excitement does not end there, as one foodie said: "Fantastic!", while another said: "Can't wait for it to open, I love Asian food!"

One County Gazette reader noted: "Nice to see something worthwhile going in there.

"Anything is better than another charity shop, and let’s face it, we all like to eat."

And as Taunton embraces this new addition, the focus is all about the buzz of anticipation for the new Asian supermarket's opening day.
