A MOTORIST caught speeding at 115mph on the M5 between Bridgwater and Taunton has been banned from the road.

Joel James, 31, of Eames Avenue, Stoneclough Radcliffe, Bolton, committed the offence in an Audi A3 just before reaching the Taunton turn off as he headed south between Junctions 24 and 25 on May 16 this year.

The case against him was proved when he appeared at North Somerset Magistrates' Court yesterday (Wednesday, November 8).

James was find £969 and ordered to pay a £388 victim surcharge, along with a contribution of £95 towards prosecution costs.

He received six penalty points and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months "due to repeat offending".

He must pay his total court bill of £1,452 by February 1.
