A TAUNTON pub has bagged a gold in the Loo of the Year Awards 2023.
The Perkin Warbeck on East Street earned high marks for its top-notch toilets.
The awards aim to spotlight and uplift the quality of public lavatory provision across the UK.
Thousands of facilities at varied sites were inspected during these unannounced visits.
Following a strict grading system, the toilets were evaluated against a banister of benchmarks, reflecting on attributes like cleanliness, decor, accessibility, and overall management.
The Perkin Warbeck, a Wetherspoon pub, is led by Mark Bouchier.
Reflecting on the award, Mr Bouchier said: "We are delighted with the award.
"Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors."
Echoing the praise, the Loo of the Year Awards 2023 managing director, Becky Wall, said: "The toilets at The Perkin Warbeck have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained.
"The pub deserves its gold award."
