A LOCAL housebuilder with a development in Taunton has helped 49 key workers buy their own properties with deposit contributions totalling more than £912,000.

This weekend (Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26), Barratt David Wilson Homes South West will hold a Key Worker event at its Nerrols Grange development.

At the event, even more key workers can learn more about the Deposit Contribution scheme and receive up to £25,000 to help them get on or move up the property ladder. On top of this, they will be able to benefit from free flooring.

As part of the scheme, key workers receive a £1,000 deposit contribution for every £20,000 of a home’s purchase price, so property that costs £325,000 will see key workers qualify for a contribution of £16,250.

Those who reserve this weekend will receive a TV worth up to £1,000, available on completion.

The event runs from 10am until 5.30pm. No appointments are needed.

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, said: "Our financial contribution will help to get buyers on or up the ladder while the offer of carpets and state-of-the-art TV will free up cash that they’ll be able to spend on other important items.”
