MEMBERS of the Taunton area committee of Cancer Research UK were in pinnies and CRUK tops for the annual Big Breakfast bash at the Temple Methodist Church hall recently.

'Full English' and variations of it were on offer to be enjoyed by about 130 people.

Cereals, fruit juices, tea and coffee, toast and marmalade were laid on too, all for a modest donation to a good cause.

Chris Knapman, the secretary, and helper Amanda, cooked solidly for four and a half hours to provide

the delicious fare and many other volunteers delivered the goods hot to the tables.

Many people came to meet others and chatted at the tables for some time, helping create a warm and convivial atmosphere.

Among the distinguished visitors were, the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammid Sadiq; The Mayor of Taunton, Cllr Nick O’Donnell; and Taunton Deane MP, Rebecca Pow.

Ms Pow was among speech makers, as were charity president David Milliken and former president Ian Ramus.

Local businesses including Bishop's Hull Butchers, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and others, donated the food, so almost all the money donated by the breakfasters was profit for Cancer Research UK.
