Shepton Mallet-based online retailer Field & Flower has unveiled its 2023 Christmas shop.
They will offer high-quality, free-range Bronze Turkeys from John Malseed's family farm located in Devon.
Aside from the poultry, the shop will also stock a variety of festive treats including hams, pork pies, smoked salmon, and British charcuterie & cheeses.
Field & Flower is also set to continue their ‘Leg Up’ food waste initiative for the second year running.
According to the retailer, nearly seven million turkey crowns are bought for Christmas, leaving about 7,000 tonnes of turkey legs — too many for the market to handle, eventually turning into waste, forced into storage and sold at a low price.
To counter this, Field & Flower will offer high welfare turkey legs from John Malseed's farm at their online shop.
To encourage customers, Field & Flower highlighted that "a pair of legs costs £14.98 for 1kg which is enough to feed a family of 2-3 people."
Moreover, for every turkey crown bought via their website, Field & Flower pledged to donate a pair of turkey legs to FareShare, a food redistribution charity.
"People and environment are at the heart of our business, and we strive to do our best for both," Field & Flower co-founder James Mansfield said.
Last Christmas, Field & Flower sold 770 pairs of turkey legs and donated an additional 250 pairs to FareShare South West, feeding 1,000 families.
This year they plan to donate over 550 turkey legs to the charity and expect customers to take advantage of their cost-effective poultry offering this festive season.
