SEEING family members with diabetes missing out on treats has inspired two sisters to set up their own business making healthy cakes.

Full-time nurses Annamaria Vlasa and Adela Tot have been baking cheesecakes, Victoria sponges and carrot cakes without using refined sugars.

The creations, crafted with licensed sweeteners and natural alternatives, have been going down a treat and their business, Sugar-free Bliss, has had numerous satisfied customers putting in repeat orders.

Annamaria said: "We have diabetic family members who obviously couldn't have any cakes that were made with sugar.

"We wanted to make sure everyone is included, so our mission is to create confectionery that caters for the health-conscious and, most importantly, to those who are managing diabetes.

"We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy mouthwatering treats while prioritising their well-being."

She added: "Because of our background, we saw how diabetes impacts on your life, particularly if you don't keep it under control.

"We want to reach more individuals who are looking for healthier dessert options and those managing diabetes who deserve delicious treats without compromising their health."

Sugar-free Bliss operates on a pre-order basis, with convenient collection from a central Taunton location.

The sisters recently took a stand at Sandhill's RBL Dunkirk Memorial House Christmas Fayre, where their cakes went down a storm.
