POLICE are investigating a "report of a rape" at a park in Taunton.
They were called to Hamilton Park at around 9.15pm on Wednesday (December 6) and started forensic examinations after setting up a cordon which was removed yesterday (Thursday, December 7).
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Hamilton Park in Taunton shortly before 9.15pm on Wednesday, December 6, following a report of a rape.
“A police cordon was in place to allow forensic examinations to take place, and this was removed yesterday (7 December).
“Our investigation is being led by Bluestone, our specialist rape and sexual offences investigations team, and this work is ongoing.
“House-to-house enquiries have been made and CCTV footage is being examined. This is being treated as an isolated incident.
“Specially trained officers are supporting the victim.
“If you saw anything in the area at the time, or have any footage which may help our investigation, call 101 and quote reference 5223298282.”
