Volume 2 of Wellington's own Chris Marrow's memoirs is now available.
Titled 'The Cornish Viking in Africa', Mr Marrow narrates how he ran landing craft to deliver food to starving Mozambicans escaping civil war hostilities.
The first volume highlighted his initiative of pioneering ferry services in Orkney and Shetland before it was taken over by the council.
A former aid agency CEO praises Chris Marrow's new release saying: "Chris Marrow played a central role in a massive and unprecedented relief effort during a horrible civil war in Mozambique.
"This is an insider account of challenges of feeding tens of thousands of desperate people and the innovative ways found of getting food to them.
"Chris has a real feeling for the people and the country and tells the stories of the many individuals involved with honesty and feeling."
They continued: "For anyone interested in Mozambique's recent history or in the history of international relief efforts, this is a rewarding read.
"The book also includes accounts of some other interludes of Chris's life and will leave you amazed how one person in one lifetime could achieve so much and have so many adventures.”
