FOR all lovers of pop music from the 1960’s, arguably the best ever decade, when Pick of the Pops on a Sunday afternoon on the BBC Light Programme gave a run down of the top 20, was essential listening, local author Ray Heard of Bridgwater has just completed his follow up book on vinyl records "Strictly B sides of the Sixties”.

His previous publication was entitled "Do do do you Remember"...Forgotten "A" and "B" sides of the Sixties and brought back memories of yesteryear when life was much less complicated and lived without the intrusion of social media, and television was still in its infancy.

Ray’s new book is equally interesting and concentrates entirely on ‘B sides’ which we all listened to especially having handed over six shillings and fourpence (32 pence approx) of our pocket money or hard earned cash we wanted to ensure we got good value from our 45 rpm discs.

Strictly B sides of the Sixties” is available free of charge from West Quay and Cornhill Record Shops so make sure to pop in and pick up your own copy- once you open it you wont be able to put it down and will find yourself humming those forgotten tunes of long ago.

Ray Heard is busy working on his next book that will recall some of his experiences of managing a football team in the Bridgwater Sunday League.

“Some amazing things happened some of which were almost unbelievable, ” says Ray  who can be contacted at rayheard1@googlemail.com.
