A NURSERY and kids play area in Taunton has thanked the emergency services for their efforts to tackle the lorry fire in Staplegrove on Tuesday, January 2.
Space Adventurers and Little Adventures Nursery on Frobisher Way have since re-opened following the fire, which saw fire crews from Taunton, Bridgwater and Wellington fire stations sent to the incident.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the lorry was loaded up with 'recyclable electrical items and well alight'.
Police cordoned off the nursery and soft play until the fire was extinguished, and staff have confirmed that after extensive checks, there are no lasting fumes or smoke damage thanks to the powerful ventilation system.
A spokesperson for Space Adventurers said: "We are grateful to the Taunton Fire Station and Avon and Somerset Police who did an amazing job in protecting the surrounding buildings, the public and ensuring the fire didn't spread."
