A TAUNTON town centre street was closed this morning (Monday, January 8) after a car hit a traffic light.
Police were on the scene of the incident, on Bridge Street, at around 10.15am.
The road was closed to allow the recovery of the vehicle, which was moved to the side of the road.
The ambulance service was also on the scene - there are no reports of injuries.
Bridge Street was re-opened at 10.50am
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 10.15am this morning (Monday, January 8) to a report that a car had collided with traffic lights on Bridge Street in Taunton.
“The road was briefly closed to allow the vehicle to be moved to the side of the road. It was reopened at 10.50am. No one was injured.
“The council has been informed of the damage to the traffic lights.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 10.15am on Monday, January 8 to a road traffic incident near Bridge Street, in Taunton.
"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance.”
